Welcome to the Clevedon Care Website

Clevedon Care is a local voluntary organisation, dedicated to care in the

community. It is a registered charity

and is sponsored by

"Churches Together in Clevedon".

Our principal activity is arranging and providing transport for local people to easily get to hospital appointments in Bristol, Southmead, Frenchay and other area hospitals as well as local medical services, including Health Centres and the Cottage Hospital.

Since its inauguration in 1987 around 40 000 trips have been made – saving the NHS around one million pounds in those 20 years.

Volunteers run an office (presently located in St. John’s Church Lower Hall) morning and afternoon, five days a week. Most requests are received via the telephone. Client requirements are matched to available drivers by telephone and co-ordinated by a cross-referenced filing system.  Duties and responsibilities are determined through a management committee which meets three or four times a year.

Currently we undertake around fifty jobs each week. Clients are asked to make a donation towards drivers' running costs based on the mileage involved.

Our door-to-door service is greatly appreciated as the continuing requests both from long-term and new clients testify.

If you would like to know more about using the service please contact the Co-ordinator, John Gay, on  01275 792893.

Clevedon Care considers itself to be the fifth essential emergency service in our area and looks forward to many more years of contributing to the community.
